Grand Ole Opry - Nashville

Hi everyone,

http://www.opry.com/

We are so glad we returned to Nashville to go the Grand Ole Opry. It was a great show. For those of you that don’t know the Grand Ole Opry is a live radio show that has been operating for 85years!

It is now in a purpose built location after moving from the old Ryman theatre, however it was flooded in the floods last year – 4ft of water above the stage!

But everyone pulled together and got it restored and up and running again. It is a beautiful theatre. At the front centre of the stage is a circle of timber floor that was cut from the original Ryman theatre stage floor where many, many Legions of Country Music have stood and sang over the 85 years.

We were treated to some wonderful performances including:

Riders in the sky

Little Big Town
George Hamilton IV
Craig Morgan - Excellant!
Bill Anderson
Mandy Barnett  - Fantastic, she is doing a show called Always Patsy Kline.
Then we had Little Jimmy Dickens – he is only about 5ft tall and who by the way is 90years old! He really had the audience in his hands – he also told some really good jokes!

The final performer for the evening was Charlie Daniels:

He was fantastic, listening and watch him playing his Fiddle was unbelievable – he broke quite a few strings!

His last song was "The Devil went down to Georgia" which I am sure you have all heard and seeing that preformed live was amazing!

Their hands were moving so fast - i'm surprised it didn't blur!

It was a fantastic night, great value for money.
Today we are heading off towards Virginia.

Cheers,

Dave & Shell
