Our Denver Visit

Hi All,

Well have we ever been busy since I posted last!
We drove to our friends house in Lone Tree Colorado - an hour out of Denver. The weather got warmer as we got closer - thank god!
We arrived about lunch time, we planned it not to be a big drive. It was great to finally see Jas, Jo, Jacob and Isabelle. We hadn't seen them since they left Australia in September. Jacob recognised us straight away but little Isabelle who was just a baby then took a while to accept us :)

Jacob 5

Isabelle nearly 2

Jas and Jo's house is beautiful and it has a fully decked out basement - which was our Suite! Check it out!

You can tell we were really spoilt.

We just rested and caught up on the first day - Saturday, but on Sunday we decided to go to Elitch Park, which is an amusement park in Denver - Dave was in his element, it was the best rollercoaster park we have ever seen! He dragged Jas onto all the rides with him :)

Dave & Jas

As you can see they had a ball, but of course we had to let the kids go on some rides too:

 just happy watching  with Isabelle
Totally worn out!

this is my pace - Ferris Wheel

We all had an excellant day and were totally exhausted - poor Jas had to go to work the next day!

We spent the next few days exploring Lone Tree and the shopping centres - there were heaps!
We also enjoyed our time with the kids. Who were getting used to us being around. It turns out we were pretty good babysitters

Jacob & Uncle Dave
We even got Isabelle to sleep!

Jas also organised for us to go to a Baseball match - The Colorado Rockies.

We had great seats

Jacob enjoyed it - till he fell asleep!

We loved it!

A big crowd - but unfortunately the Rockies lost!

On Friday we all headed off for a weekend away. We headed to Blackhawke - which is a beautiful little town in the mountains full of Casino's!!!!!!!!!! Our drive up there was magnificent:

We even seen some Vanners !

We stayed here!

This is the view from our room:

We didn't have any luck at the Casino's at all - But we didn't mind.

The next day we drove onto Avon/Bachelor's Gulch and stayed at a beautiful ski resort. The drive there was just as good with the added benefit of snow on the mountains:

 The Resort was beautiful:

The scenery around it just as beautiful:

On Sunday we parted ways for a week or so. Jas, Jo, Jacob and Isabelle headed back home and Dave and I headed off for more exploring this huge country. We stopped at Grand Junction on our way to Moab and called into the visitor centre. We explained to a lady there where we were headed and she suggested that we call into Colorado National Monument on the way - which we did. Wow it was beautiful!

It was extremely windy and surprisingly warm. But as you can see totally worth it:

It was the 100yr Anniversary since it was proclaimed a monument.

After driving around the Monument we headed off to Moab. The wind was getting stronger and there was a haze across the mountains. When we got to Moab we couldn't get accomodation anywhere - the town was booked out for Memorial Weekend! So we had to head back out without seeing the National Parks :)

We had to drive another 50 Miles to get a room at Green River. Nothing at all in his town but atleast we had a bed!

Super 8 Motel Green River Utah

Today we drove to Ogden Utah, the otherside of Salt Lake City. We didn't want to stay in the city so we just drove through it. But of course we had some beautiful scenery again. We also had some cloud cover and rain today.

Tomorrow we are off to Yellowstone National Park! But they have been having some late snow so we will have to check the road conditions in the morning.

Well till next time,
Happy Travels.
