Devils Tower Wyoming & Deadwood South Dakota

Devils Tower Wyoming

Hi All,

We had a very busy day today. Firstly we drove out to Devils Tower - well worth the drive! It was amazing from every angle.

We walked around the base of it and were amazed that people were actually climbing it - very extreme sport:

Definitely not for us.
But we did see some rather cute little creatures - Prairie Dogs:

We called into the trading post on our way out of the park and took these photo's of some "stuffed" animals on display:

Cougar & Porcupine
Badger

A Beautiful big bear

and some carved critters

As we were about to leave we met some Aussies - we haven't seen any since L.A! We had a talk to them and they suggested that on our way back to Rapid City we should take the scenic route and call into Deadwood on the way - So we did.

The scenic route was beautiful:

Deadwood is in South Dakota and is a quaint little town full of casino's and memorabilia of "The Old Wild West Days" and Wild Bill Hickok.
They even have re-enactments of a shoot out in the main street - which we were lucky enough to see:

It was pretty cool! Of course we added to our collection and got a few more souvenirs - we are definitely going to need another suitcase!

Well that was another full day - Mt Rushmore tomorrow!
Thankfully the weather has warmed up, should be about 32 tomorrow :)

Bye for now,
Dave and shell
